In honor of the season, we asked patrons to share with us their favorite holiday story, song or movie. Here's what they had to say:
BRENT BARNES
âItâs a Wonderful Life. Itâs one of the iconic Christmas films. It captures the spirit of the holiday. He sort of looks back at his life. At Christmas, itâs good to look back at your year and see what you did, see what you could do better, but to also see the good that you did do.
BOB BURGESS
âNational Lampoons Christmas Vacation is my favorite holiday movie. Itâs a great comedy. The scene where Clark is putting up the lights reminds me of when I was growing up.â
BARB BURLEY
ââSanta Claus is Coming To Townâ is my favorite holiday TV show. I always went to my grandmotherâs house to watch it and have dinner whenever it was going to be on TV.â
ADAM CHRISTIAN
âMy favorite Christmas story is âTwas the Night Before Christmas. It's so much fun to see my kids filled with excitement as we read it around the fireplace on Christmas Eve.â
GARY CONNY
âFor me, Christmas does not start until I have watched two movies A Christmas Carol and Itâs A Wonderful Life. With Scrooge, we are reminded that it matters what we do for others. With Itâs A Wonderful Life, we are reminded that we are all important. That if you werenât here, think of how many things would be different.
SHAUN FONTAINE
âI read A Christmas Carol sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas every year. I like the redemption aspect with Scrooge and thereâs a lot of humanness to the story.â
BILL KENNICK
âMy favorite Christmas movie is Itâs A Wonderful Life. I like Jimmy Stewart. Plus, itâs sentimental and at Christmas, you want to be sentimental. I like the flashback of what would have happened if he werenât alive. Itâs a very life-affirming film.â
GAIL MURDOCH
ââJoy to the Worldâ is my favorite Christmas song. I have always associated that song with the joy of Christmas.â
NICK STREZA
âMy favorite Christmas movie is The Bishopâs Wife with Cary Grant and Loretta Young. I like the scene where the angel, Dudley, keeps filling up the professorâs wine glass when he isnât looking. Itâs a very down to earth story and not so much about Christmas, but it was a really good comedy.â
LIAM TAGGART
âHome Alone. Itâs a funny movie. The whole plot is meant to make you laugh. The one bandit, Marv, is not very good at his job, and Kevin has a good way of keeping his home from being robbed of its goods.â
AMY WALLACE
âThe Family Stone is my favorite Christmas movie. Itâs about a family who comes together for Christmas and while they are all a little bit different, they are still all family. The mom has cancer and is dying and it is their last Christmas together. Weâve all had those human experiences and it just speaks to me. I watch it all year round.â
AMANDA WEBER
âI have three favorite movies. A Christmas Carol for all the obvious reasons. White Christmas for all the music and the storyline, and A Christmas Story because no matter how many times I see it, itâs still funny.â
JACKSON WEBER
âI like How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The rhyming is very entertaining to me.â
KELLY WEHNER
âI like âO Holy Night.â I like the depiction of the birth of Christ and the hope that it brings.â
MARSHA WEHNER
âMy favorite Christmas song is âSilent Night.â Attending Christmas Eve service, the lights would be dimmed and we would all be holding lit candles and singing this song.â
