It’s never a bad time to talk about safety.
Rodman Public Library will give teens, ages 12-18, the opportunity to learn how to be mindful of dangerous situations as well as the tactics to use if they find themselves in such circumstances during a two-hour self-defense and awareness seminar on Tuesday, September 19.
The free course will be taught by Wayne Burley, an area native who is the owner of C.O.B.R.A. Defense Canton. He has 36 years of experience in defensive tactics instruction and is a sixth-degree master level instructor in martial arts.
Burley, who holds a degree in education from Malone College and a Master’s of Science in Fitness Management from the United States Sports Academy, has been teaching since 1984 and was inducted into the United States Kido Federation Black Belt Hall of Fame.
The seminar is free, thanks to Friends of Rodman Public Library, but space is limited and registration is required.
