Tabletop Gaming (December 11)

Tabletop Gaming, an all-ages program,  will be held at the Main Library at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11. Each month a new game is featured so that patrons can learn a new game. Of course, other games available in the library’s collection will also be available and visitors are always welcome to bring their own games. The aim of the family program is to give area residents an opportunity to gather with others to play their favorite card and board games and make new friends. Light snacks will be offered and no registration is required to attend the monthly program. Although the program is open to players of all ages, children under 13 should be accompanied by an adult. Teen Gaming (December 12)

Area teens, ages 12-18, are invited to Rodman Public Library every other Thursday to play their favorite video games on the Xbox One, Xbox 360 with Kinect, Playstation 4 & 5, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo  WiiU, and Meta Quest 3.  A session is planned for December 12 from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Main Auditorium.  Visitors will have the opportunity to play a different game each week. Games with ratings from “E” for Everyone, up to “T” for Teen level, will be offered. No registration is required for these free gaming events. Chess Club (December 18)

Every third Wednesday of every month, chess boards are set up in the auditorium at the Main Library for patrons of all ages who play and are looking for an opponent, those who sort of play and are looking to learn more about the classic game, or for those who are interested in getting started. The next Chess Club will be held Wednesday, December 18 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. No registration is required.

Holiday Games (December 19)

Teens, ages 12-18, are invited to compete in Holiday Games inside the auditorium at Rodman Public Library from 3 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, December 19.

Teens will participate in a variety of mini games similar to those played at family holiday get-togethers and prizes will be awarded throughout the event.

No registration is needed to participate in the free program that is supported by Friends of Rodman Public Library.

Interactive Movie: Elf (December 21)

Rodman Public Library will screen Elf in an interactive viewing experience on the big screen inside the Main Auditorium at Saturday, December 21 at 1 p.m.

The 2003 family Christmas comedy, which is rated PG, follows Buddy, a human raised by Santa’s elves who travels to New York City to find his biological father. The film, which stars Will Ferrell and James Caan, runs 1 hours and 30 minutes.

Those attending the movie will be given a script as well as a bag of props and goodies that will enhance their viewing experience.

All movies are free at RPL and fresh popcorn is provided, thanks to Friends of Rodman Public Library. 

Due to the movie being an interactive event, registration is required.

Teen Nerf Night (January 2)

Teens, ages 12-18, are invited to attend Nerf Night from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 2. Teens should start to assemble in the Main Library auditorium at 5:15 p.m. for the after-hours event. Participants may bring in their own Nerf weapons or use some provided by the library. The library will also provide Nerf darts. Space is limited and registration is required.
