Teen Gaming (January 23)

Area teens, ages 12-18, are invited to Rodman Public Library every other Thursday to play their favorite video games on the Xbox One, Xbox 360 with Kinect, Playstation 4 & 5, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo  WiiU, and Meta Quest 3.  A session is planned for January 23 from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Main Auditorium.  Visitors will have the opportunity to play a different game each week. Games with ratings from “E” for Everyone, up to “T” for Teen level, will be offered. No registration is required for these free gaming events. Tabletop Gaming (January 29)

Tabletop Gaming, an all-ages program,  will be held at the Main Library at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29. Each month a new game is featured so that patrons can learn a new game. Of course, other games available in the library’s collection will also be available and visitors are always welcome to bring their own games. The aim of the family program is to give area residents an opportunity to gather with others to play their favorite card and board games and make new friends. Light snacks will be offered and no registration is required to attend the monthly program. Although the program is open to players of all ages, children under 13 should be accompanied by an adult. Madden 25 Tournament (February 6)

Are you ready for some video game football?

All gamers, ages 10 to 18, are invited to participate in a Madden 25 Tournament on Thursday, February 6 from 3 to 5 p.m.

Head-to-head games will be played on the PS5 or Xbox Series X and will feature three-minute quarters on all pro difficulty.

Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers.

Participants should start arriving at 3 p.m. to register and to practice.

Taste Test (February 13)

Think you can distinguish between Coca-Cola and Pepsi? How about between Hershey’s chocolate and a Feastable bar? 

Rodman Public Library invites youth, ages 10-18, to put their taste buds to the test during a Taste Test at 4 p.m. on Thursday, February 13 inside the Main Auditorium.

Participants will sample common foods and see if they can tell one from another and then decide which one reigns supreme.

With it being so close to Valentine’s Day, youth can expect to have lots of sweet treats in the mix.

No registration is required to participate in the program, which is free thanks to Friends of Rodman Public Library.

Movie Matinee: Wicked (February 15)

Rodman Public Library will screen Wicked on the big screen inside the Main Auditorium at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 15.

The film, which is rated PG, runs 2 hours and 40 minutes.

All movies are free at RPL and fresh popcorn is provided, thanks to Friends of Rodman Public Library. 

Registration is not required. All ages are welcome to attend, but children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. 

Chess Club (February 19)

Every third Wednesday of every month, chess boards are set up in the auditorium at the Main Library for patrons of all ages who play and are looking for an opponent, those who sort of play and are looking to learn more about the classic game, or for those who are interested in getting started. The next Chess Club will be held Wednesday, December 18 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. No registration is required.

Teen Nerf Night (March 6)

Teens, ages 12-18, are invited to attend the March Nerf Night from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 6. Teens should start to assemble in the Main Library auditorium at 5:15 p.m. for the after-hours event. Participants may bring in their own Nerf weapons or use some provided by the library. The library will also provide Nerf darts. Space is limited and registration is required at rodmanlibrary.com. For more information, call the Reference Department at 330-821-2665, ext. 217. Nerf nights are held every other month.
